Why Choose MEDS?
1. Stability
Midwest Emergency Department Services was started by Dr. William Cruzen in 1983, at the request of St. Elizabeth's Hospital, in Belleville. We still manage that contract today. MEDS is dedicated to the success of our physicians and hospital clients.
2. Physician-owned
Midwest Emergency is owned and managed by two Board-Certified, Emergency Medicine physicians. Dr. William Cruzen founded MEDS in 1983; Dr. Len Glover partnered with Dr. Cruzen in 1999. As a MEDS physician, you do have direct access to the owners, to address any concerns that may arise. Both Dr. Cruzen and Dr. Glover work clinically in the facilities that we manage. They have first-hand knowledge of the working environment in each of the emergency departments.
3. Opportunities for Growth
Midwest Emergency Department Services is a growing organization, with a wide range of opportunity. Whether you are a Family physician, looking to make some extra money, or you are looking for a career in Emergency Medicine, MEDS can work for you. Our ED volumes range from 4500 up to 33,000 annual. We also manage three Urgent Care centers, which are affiliated with our larger hospitals. With MEDS, as your experience and knowledge grow, so can your career. Possibilities include moving from part-time to full-time, moving to larger volume facilities, and Medical Directorships.
4. Location, Location, Location
With 14 separate facilities, MEDS offers a wide range of opportunities. Most facilities are within 60 miles of the St. Louis Metropolitan area, providing access to professional sports, a World Class Zoo, nationally recognized universities, a variety of great restaurants, and much, much more. St. Louis has all of the amenities of a big city, without the high costs.
For those wanting to do it yourself, this area also provides easy access to great trails and parks for camping, hiking, canoeing, caving, jogging and bicycling. The famous 225 mile Katy Trail calls you to cycle or jog. Hikers and bikers find themselves splitting the difference between some awesome rock sculpture and the surge of one of the nation's mightiest rivers. The area also offers several lakes and waterways ready for sailboats, motor boats, and kayaking. Many state parks and meandering rivers are available for day-long or weekend canoe trips and are within an easy driving distance.
This growing region has something for everyone, whether you prefer small town living, or a more fast-paced, urban setting... or a little of both!
